From the Beginnings.

Grassy Knoll Ranch is a family owned business that has two Cattle farms located in the beautiful Appalachian Mountains of Mountain City, Tennessee and Vilas, North Carolina. They also own two tree farms located in Fairfield County, South Carolina.

William Thomas has been in the meat industry his entire life. He started working for a national manufacturing company, and transitioned into sales while working for a national sales agency. In 1999 he would go on to start his own sales company. Fourteen years later, he sold his business to an international sales company. Fast forward to 2013, when his passion for the outdoors led him to buy the Vilas, NC Farm and begin his endeavors buying and growing black Angus cattle. He later expanded, in 2016, buying another farm in Mountain City, Tennessee where the majority of the operations are now held.

We have a great supporting staff and knowledgeable associates that help us in our day to day operations and our go forward strategy to help us meet our stated mission, “To be recognized as having the best grade of Certified Black Angus cattle in the United States.”
